Get A Mac
Client: School Project
Style: Web Vlog
Length: 40 sec
Size: 3.8 mb

Stay on the cutting edge of where video is going, we were assigned to do a short video for the web about some aspect of the program. Not only would I vlog about Mac but I would use it to make the vlog. I was inspired by the software tutorial videos we had watched in class and wanted to try out that style of film. I used some freeware called iShowU that allowed me to record my screen while I worked on it. I took great care to plan and rehearse exactly what I would be doing on screen while recording. Compared to the real world and hand held cameras it's much more difficult to focus in on something you are doing on the computer screen. To solve this I zoomed and followed the mouse. At one point I overlaid two video tracks for a quick zoom when I'm typing the name of the file. So editing was a marriage between my new iShowU software and Final Cut Pro. I really look forward to making more videos in this style.

Lighting was an issue for me and "the other students", but I did my best to make use of what available lights I had. Hopefully no one can tell that it's 2am outside.

I also spent a lot of time on dialogue. The narration was recored in a different location to keep it as clear as possible. It took a little effort to make sure that my scripted dialogue was the appropriate length and sinked up with what it related to onscreen. Now if I could just learn to act.
